Teaching Philosophy:  Amy advocates creative exploration and feels that the best way to improve is by trying things out without worrying about being "right." She believes that singing is a full body, sensation-based athletic endeavor and that the voice functions best when trained that way.

Voice Lessons incorporate customized exercises designed to increase range, strengthen and free the voice, learn how to project, and develop healthy, efficient vocal technique with consistent breath support. Audition preparation and performance techniques, body awareness, and how to deal with nerves and release tension are some of Amy's specialties. Amy loves working with students ages 6 & up of all musical styles and focuses on working with females.
Amy's mentors and teachers include: Andrew Byrne of The Singing Athlete, Carol McAmis, Dr. Chris Arneson, Michael Paul, Neil Semer and Deborah Montgomery-Cove.

Piano Lessons: Two Types of Piano Lessons are offered.
Traditional Piano Lessons are available for ages 5 & up for beginner to intermediate levels. They are geared towards the development of musical skills such as Improv, rhythm, reading sheet music, piano technique, and music theory in a fun and engaging way. Repertoire is chosen based on the student's unique interests and method books are incorporated into the lesson.
Functional Piano Lessons focus on practical skills for vocalists such as how to play your own vocal warmups, how to teach yourself songs and how to play reductions of vocal accompaniments. Many singing students enjoy combining a 30min voice lesson, followed by a 30min functional piano lesson or a 45min voice lesson, followed by a 45min functional piano lesson.

Amy is on the faculty of Theatrical Artists Prep in Scotch Plains NJ.  She is also the Teaching Artist for Monmouth County's Middle School of the Arts Musical Theatre Program and for Middlesex County's Middle School of the Arts Vocal Music Program.  She frequently collaborates with The Music Room in MA for specialized workshops on topics such as Musical Theatre Auditioning.

All Singing and Piano Lessons are Online during this time. New students are welcome!

"Amy is the kindest, most talented, patient, and wonderful piano teacher. She takes time to really let the student learn at their pace and guides them gently with wonderful methods. My children absolutely love her!!! Amy is the BEST!" -Rochelle

"Amy has been our piano teacher for several years and after looking at various teachers - I was so happy to see the child friendly, kinesthetic and age appropriate approach she utilizes to not only teach songs - but how to read music. My son has special sensory, and behavioral needs - and she's always supported and encouraged him to be himself and has been so flexible in letting him take off his shoes or modifying lessons to keep him motivated. Her love for children and passion for her craft has won our hearts. She is also so talented and inspirational through her singing, and community work. My son who does not do well with many teachers has warmed up completely to Amy's sweet personality and care. I am beyond thankful for the important work she is doing with my children. She also pays attention and notices the child's unique talents and goes based off of it in lessons, as was the case with my daughter. I can't recommend her enough to friends and other homeschoolers <3!" -Stefanie

"My six-year old daughter absolutely loves her piano lessons with Amy! I can't believe how far she's come in just one year and really appreciate how much fun Amy makes learning. My daughter looks forward to her lessons and never gives us a hard time about practicing. In just one year Emily is already able to read music and can play all of her favorite Disney songs. Amy is just amazing with her students. I really appreciate how she's able to switch up her approach to match Emily's interests. Amy makes it so easy to coordinate lessons. Every week I'm so thankful we found Amy and that she's awakened a love of music in Emily. I highly recommend her services!" -Dorrie
